Coffee remains a staple for many Americans, with over 60% enjoying a cup daily. To honor this beloved beverage, National Coffee Day is celebrated on Sunday, September 29, and various coffee shops are offering exciting promotions and freebies. According to a January survey by the National Coffee Association, coffee consumption reached a two-decade high earlier this year, with around 67% of U.S. adults drinking at least one cup each day. Although that number slightly decreased to 63% in a follow-up survey conducted in July 2024, it still highlights the beverage's enduring popularity.

Interestingly, more coffee lovers are choosing to get their caffeine fix from cafés and restaurants, with 36% of respondents reporting that they purchased coffee outside their homes—the highest rate since the COVID-19 pandemic began. William “Bill” Murray, president and CEO of the National Coffee Association, described coffee as "a touchstone in Americans' everyday lives," reflecting its comforting traditions and the growing awareness of its potential health benefits.

To celebrate National Coffee Day, several special deals are available, some of which extend to Tuesday, October 1, International Coffee Day. Be sure to check social media for additional promotions at your favorite local coffee shops. For instance, on National Coffee Day, members of the Dunkin' Rewards loyalty program can enjoy a free medium hot or iced coffee with any purchase (limit one per member; exclusions apply for Cold Brew and Nitro Cold Brew).
